MY GIFT

‘”I guess you wonder where I’ve been” – starts singing Bobby Caldwell’s Do For Love…. Pause while I mouth the musical interlude that sounds like a trumpet solo (I know you know it).

Hello. Hi. It’s me. It’s my face again. Been a minute since you’ve seen me pop up on your phone, whether it is via WhatsApp, or Facebook, or Instagram (which is now deleted, shameless plug to read my previous blog post), or an email notification if you have subscribed to this blog.

Five minutes before I dusted off my personal laptop, and reset this blog’s password for the 17th time, I came across a reel that said:

Your gift works hand-in-hand with your calling. Your gift draws people to you, your calling draws people to God. You are stuck because you are just focusing on your gift and not using your gift as a calling to honor God. – Anonymous

Pause for dramatic effect.

I started thinking about my gifts and if I am using them at all, never-mind even addressing my calling. This blog…. writing…. is definitely one of my gifts that I have been neglecting. Immediately thinking about Matthew 25 with the parable of the three servants and their ‘talents’. I haven’t written in so long. I can feel how rusty I am even typing this. On the other hand, I can’t express the pure joy writing gives me. The ability to use words in a way that’s unique to me opens up that creative side that I often forget about when life starts dragging me.

I do not consider myself to be the greatest writer by any means. But surely the interactions and positive responses to these quick reads must mean I am doing something right. And if it feels right, and it’s unique to me, how could it not be a gift?

That being said, this post is about 2 thing:

1: I am definitely getting back to writing and developing this gift. So please be on the lookout for more content (in my mind a sound like a youtuber asking you to like, share, and subscribe and I am cringing at myself)

2: I urge you to go back to the things that feed your soul. To the things that are unique to you and that draws people to you. Your gift. Find it. Cultivate it. Ultimately, give it to God for His praise, because He gave it to you in the first place.

All my love,

Darcy
